Privacy
This page explains what happens to your data when you read this site. It is short because the site does very little with it.
The short version
You can read every page here without telling us anything. There are no accounts, no forms and no newsletter. We do not sell data, we do not run advertising, and we do not build profiles of visitors. We run no analytics at all, so there is nothing to opt in or out of and this site sets no cookies of its own.
Who we are
This site is published by School Admission Appeals, a UK service that helps parents appeal a refused school place. For anything about privacy or your data, including any of the requests below, email privacy@schooladmissionappeals.co.uk.
We are the data controller for the site. If we later ask you for anything beyond what is described here — an email address, or the details of your appeal — we will say so at the point we ask, and this page will be updated before that happens, not after.
What we collect
When you just read the site
Nothing that identifies you. The pages are static files with no forms and no login. We set no cookie of our own and record nothing about your visit.
Our host, Cloudflare, processes your IP address in transit in order to deliver the pages and to block attacks. That is a technical necessity of putting anything on the internet rather than a choice we make, and it is covered by our legitimate interest in keeping the site up and secure.
Our legal basis
- Keeping the site running and secure — legitimate interests. UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f). Limited to what a website cannot be served without.
How long it is kept
Nothing, because nothing is collected. We hold no database of visitors, so there is nothing with a retention period.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, ask us to restrict it, or withdraw consent. Email privacy@schooladmissionappeals.co.uk and we will respond within one month.
In practice there is usually very little to act on: we hold no name, email or account for you, so we often cannot connect a request to any specific record.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled this, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first, but you do not have to.
Children
This site is written for parents and carers, not for children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from a child. Although appeals are about a child, nothing on this site asks for any detail about one.
Changes
If this changes in a way that affects you — particularly if we start collecting something new — we will update this page and the date below before that starts, not afterwards.
